More than just registering, It is realizing a right!

Pascual Mário, Anderson's father, registering his child.

Anderson Pascual Jaime, with only four weeks old (one month), is already registered. Born on 16 August 2019, until the morning of 10 September of the same year, his right to birth registration was already realized.

It was thanks to the positive impact of the messages broadcast by the mass media that little Anderson's parents were moved to realize their child's right. Just before the little boy was born, during the last months of gestation, his parents saw and followed on television the awareness campaign, Nasceu Registou (Born Registered).

With this, they explain that “in the last months, while we have been looking forward to the arrival of our child, we have seen on television some videos (television spots) that explain the need and practicality to register a newborn. Not only, we also saw on Radio Mozambique Avenue, in Matola, a poster (billboard) on the same subject”.

Billboard placed on the Radio Mozambique avenue in Matola.

Anderson's parents (Pascual Mário Jaime and Crimilda Vicente Machava) were so motivated by the campaign Nasceu Registou (Born Registered), so much so that they did not want to be late. “As soon as the boy was born, we wasted no time. I asked a work leave for a day and went to the Maputo City First Conservatory, taking our identification documents and registering our child at no cost”, explains Anderson's father.

Residents of Moamba District, Anderson's parents are the example of thousands of people that learning from our birth registration awareness raising activities. Through which they come to know that all people should be and be registered for their own good and the country as a whole.

For Pascal and Crimilda, “more than just registering, it is realizing a right. Therefore, we are very happy for the achievement and the legality to which we place our child”.

The proof of Anderson's parents' learning and attitude change can be taken from the opposite situation, where the eldest daughter was only recently registered, already 5 years old, for various reasons.

The campaign #NasceuRegistou (Born Registered) is part of the products of the #GovernmentOfMozambique initiative, funded by #GovernmentOfCanadá through #UNICEF, which has the support of #SavetheChildren and partners in mobilizing and raising awareness of adherence to birth and death registration (eCRVS), in the provinces of Maputo, Gaza, Zambezia and Nampula.
